Connect GA4 to track conversions from AI-referred traffic and compare channel performance.

Connecting Google Analytics 4 lets AEO Goal attribute conversions to AI-referred traffic - so you can see not just how often AI engines cite you, but how much revenue and lead generation that citation drives.
Connecting GA4
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics.
- Click Connect Google Analytics.
- Sign in with your Google account.
- Select your GA4 property from the dropdown.
- Click Allow.
- AEO Goal begins importing session and conversion data.
Your GA4 property must have at least one conversion event configured for conversion tracking to populate.
What GA4 unlocks
Conversions view:
- Sessions originating from AI engine referrers (Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
- Conversion rate and conversion count for AI-referred sessions
- Revenue attributed to AI traffic (if ecommerce tracking is enabled)
Channels view:
- AI Engines channel alongside Organic, Direct, Paid, Email
- Session quality metrics (bounce rate, pages per session, duration)
Channel comparison:
- Side-by-side conversion rates across all channels
- Identify whether AI-referred visitors convert better or worse than organic search visitors
AI engine referrers recognized
AEO Goal recognizes sessions from:
perplexity.aichat.openai.com/chatgpt.comclaude.aigemini.google.comcopilot.microsoft.comyou.com- And other major AI engines
Sessions from unrecognized referrers are not counted as AI-referred traffic.
Required GA4 setup
For accurate data:
- Ensure conversion events are marked in your GA4 property (Admin → Events → Mark as conversion).
- If using ecommerce, ensure the GA4 purchase event is implemented.
- Deploy the GA4 snippet on all pages of your site.
Disconnecting GA4
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics.
- Click Disconnect.
Disconnecting stops the sync. Existing data is retained.
