Last updated August 31, 2026

Agents let you create custom AI assistants that combine AEO Goal’s data with specific instructions and skills for recurring research or analysis tasks.

What agents can do

  • Run multi-step AEO research workflows on demand
  • Combine citation data, keyword data, and competitor data in one response
  • Follow custom instructions tailored to your brand and industry
  • Execute skills you define in markdown format

Creating an agent

  1. Go to Agents.
  2. Click New Agent.
  3. Give the agent a name (e.g. “Weekly SoM Briefing”).
  4. Write a system prompt describing the agent’s purpose and personality.
  5. Optionally add Skills (see below).
  6. Click Save Agent.

Skills

Skills are markdown-formatted instruction blocks that define specific capabilities for an agent. A skill looks like:

## Skill: Competitor Gap Analysis

When asked about competitive gaps, follow these steps:
1. Retrieve the user's current Share of Model using the platform data
2. Retrieve top 3 competitor SoM scores
3. Identify prompts where the gap is largest
4. Recommend 3 content topics to close the gap

Output format: bullet list with prompt, gap %, and content recommendation.

Skills are defined in the Skills tab of the agent editor. An agent can have multiple skills.

Chatting with an agent

  1. Go to Agents and click the agent name.
  2. Type your request in the chat input.
  3. The agent uses its skills and your AEO Goal data to respond.

Agent chats are separate from Ask AI threads - each agent maintains its own conversation history.

Managing agents

From the Agents list you can:

  • Edit an agent’s system prompt or skills
  • Duplicate an agent (useful for creating per-brand variants)
  • Archive or delete an agent

Archived agents are hidden from the list but their conversation history is retained.
